As most of you know, this past Tuesday evening tornados brought death and destruction to Macon (Lafayette), Trousdale (Hartsville) and Bedford (Shelbyville and Shelbyville Breakfast) counties in our district, to Jackson and surrounding areas in our neighboring district to the west and other parts of the south. Assistant Governor Dwight Jewell was involved in the FEMA assessment in Trousdale County. The Hamilton Place club worked this weekend to fill a tractor trailer that USXpress has donated to take relief supplies to Jackson.

THAILAND WATER PURIFICATION PROJECT GETS UNDERWAY

Bill Zierer Heads Back to Thailand
The Morristown club said farewell to member Bill as he leaves this week to continue his work as a Rotary Volunteer with the Rotary water purification project in Thailand. He will once again report his exploits, trials, tribulations and progress once a week spotlighting Rotary in the Morristown newspaper and is scheduled to return sometime in August. He may be reached via e-mail at zierer88@aol.com. 4-WAY TEST SPEECH CONTEST

Finals to Be Held at District Conference

Ron Lawrence (Farragut) chairs our disrict Vocational Service Committee. He recently contacted all the club presidents to ask them to consider hosting a 4-Way Test speech contest for high school students in time to bring their finalists to the District Conference in April. The seven clubs making that commitment to date are Cleveland, Cookeville, Dayton, Farragut, Grundy County, South Pittsburg and Sparta. If your club plans to participate in this inaugural year, let Ron know right away at Ron.Lawrence@summitviewhm.com.

President Dr. Bill Fry (Seymour Breakfast) couldn't resist the challenge to take a plunge for United Way. One of only eleven men and boys to take a dive into a 46° pool to raise about $2200 for United Way, Bill leads the way in his club and in the community. Give that man a hand warmer..
