Flu Shot Saturday a Growing Success!
Members of the seven Knox County Rotary Clubs participated with volunteer physicians and nursing students in giving flu shots to 7600 area residents, who came to one of five schools in the Knoxville area to receive free vaccinations and donate $44,000 to the Empty Stocking Fund.
Rotarians assisted by directing traffic, filling syringes, receiving donations, and distributing paperwork. At West High School, the DG received his shot from Dr. Montgomery, who implored him to encourage other Rotary clubs to expand this program to their counties. If your club is interested in how this works, contact the DG and ask to arrange for a program on how it works. It was started by Dr. Charlie Barnett, a member of the Farragut Rotary Club.
Additional sponsors for the event include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, Summit Medical Group, St. Mary's Health System, Clayton Bank, the Clayton Family Foundation, Provision Health Care and the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
The DG also visited with Rotarians at Farragut High School, Austin East High School, South Young Middle School and Halls High School. Another great example of Rotarians enjoying fellowship while changing the world!!
