2007 - 2008 Membership & Extension
Objectives, Strategies & Recognition

Objectives

The objective for membership growth for the 2007-2008 Rotary year is a net growth of 1 new member per club or 65 new members for the district. Our stretch goal is 130 new members.

The objective for extension is the chartering of 1 new club in the 2007-2008 year.

Strategies

The strategy for membership growth is contained in our "AIM forMembership" program initiated in the 2005-2006 year. The acronym AIM represents the three elements of our strategy. First, identify and ASK someone to consider Rotary membership. Second, INFORM them of the opportunities for service locally and internationally and the benefits that result from these service opportunities. Third, MOTIVATE each new member to be a contributing member of the Rotary team.

Recognition

Recognition of membership growth will take place at both the club and the district level. At the club level present every member that sponsors a new member with a Rotary pin that incorporates the "SPONSOR ribbon" on the pin. Also present members that have sponsored multiple new members with the addition to the Rotary pin that designates their sponsorship of 2, 3, 4, etc new members.

District recognition will be presented at the District Conference for the club that has the highest net increase in membership, the highest percentage increase in membership and the Rotarian that sponsors the most new members,

Rotary International's Membership Development Recognition Program will recognize up to 3 clubs in our District as follows:

  • Up to 3 clubs will be recognized by Governor Robin Textor for developing a proactive, creative, long term strategy for:

    1. Promotion of member retention

    2. Identification and recruitment of new members

    3. Organization of new clubs

  • To be considered clubs must submit a one page detailed explanation of their strategy to Governor Robin by April 15, 2007.

  • Governor Robin will forward the names of the clubs recommended for recognition to RI by May 15.

  • A certificate, signed by the RI President, will be awarded to each club chosen.
Rotary International's President's Award includes a requirement for membership strategy and success as shown in the 2006-2007 Presidential Citation brochure.
