Children at Risk—100 million live on the streets

Disabled Persons—About 150 casualties are caused each week from the 100 million land mines in 64 countries

Health Care—In developing countries, the major killers are infectious diseases, including respiratory illnesses, tuberculosis, and malaria

International Understanding and Goodwill—Conflicts have produced some 31 million refugees, most women and children.

Population Issues—the highest growth rates are in the poorest and most environmentally fragile parts of the world.

Poverty and Hunger—Nearly 1.3 billion—one-fifth of the world’s population—live on about $1 a day.

Preserve Planet Earth—Without changes in water management, a third of the world’s people will likely suffer from chronic water shortages in 30 years.

Urban Concerns—Problems such as crime, unemployment, gangs, domestic and other violence, substance abuse, ethnic tensions and homelessness now occur in communities of all sizes.
